SAY NO TO MOPA

GOANS FOR DABOLIM ONLY

We demand that Dabolim be retained as the only civilian
airport in Goa, because:

1. Dabolim airport is centrally located and accessible within one hour
    from most parts of Goa.
2. Two airports are not possible in tiny Goa. Dabolim will definitely close
down if Mopa comes, as has happened in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
3. Dabolim airport is big enough for all future needs of Goa.
4. Mopa airport is planned on the Goa-Maharashtra border. It will shift all
tourism and development away from Goa, towards Maharashtra.
5. If Dabolim closes, the already established tourism industry of Goa will
be destroyed. Not just tourism-dependent businesses like taxis, hotels,
shacks, but other trades and services will also be disrupted completely.
Thousands of Goan families will suffer due to loss of jobs and businesses.
6. Mopa airport will be an Environment and social disaster, with tens of thousands
of poor, oppressed people losong their lands and livelihoods.
7. The Pernem to Canacona 6 lane highway is essential for Mopa airport. Along
this route, villages will be divided, thousands of houses demolished, water bodies
and fields destroyed, if Mopa airport is allowed.
8. Goans in general, particularly seamen, NRIs and their families will spend lots of
money and time to travel to Mopa.
9. Dabolim airport is illegally occupied and controlled by the Indian Navy. This
important Goan asset must be returned to civilian authorities.

Large lands in Pernem & coastal Maharashtra have been bought by vested interests.
Why is the Govt in a hurry for Mopa airport ? your guess is as good as ours !

WE APPEAL TO ALL RIGHT THINKING GOANS TO COME OUT IN LARGE
NUMBERS IN SUPPORT OF DABOLIM ONLY
